Columbus, OH – The Nigerian Diaspora Organization Americas – Ohio (NIDOA-Ohio) hosted a vibrant celebration of Nigeria’s 64th Independence Day on Saturday, October 19th, 2024, at the Columbus Library’s Northern Lights Branch. The event, titled “Nigerian @ 64: Arts & Culture Celebration,” showcased the nation’s diverse cultural heritage through captivating displays, engaging presentations, and a lively masquerade performance.
Several local organizations joined NIDOA-Ohio in this cultural showcase, including:
- Nigerian Women’s Support Network
- Eko Club Ohio
- Oganiru Ndi Igbo
- New Americans Magazine
- Weavers of Nigeria
Each organization shared its mission and activities with attendees, highlighting the valuable services and resources they offer to the community. The event provided a platform for cultural exchange, with participants showcasing Nigerian crafts, artwork, and traditional attire.
The grand finale featured a captivating masquerade performance by Eko Club Ohio, adding a dynamic and festive element to the celebration. NIDOA-Ohio’s event successfully fostered a deeper understanding and appreciation of Nigerian culture within the Columbus community.
